  • Zero emissions: Electric cars emit no harmful emissions during operation (locally).
  • Lower operating costs: Electricity is cheaper than gasoline or diesel in most regions.
  • Less maintenance: Without a conventional combustion engine and without a transmission, there are fewer wearing parts. The brakes are also needed less due to recuperating electric motors.

Disadvantages of electric cars:

  • Fast "refueling": You can refuel at any conventional gas station.
  • Range anxiety: With the addition of a petrol engine, the fear of breaking down is reduced when the electric drive is empty.
  • CO2 emissions: While they still emit emissions, emissions are lower compared to pure gasoline or diesel cars.

Disadvantages of hybrid cars:

Hybrid vehicles, despite their efficiency, tend to be heavier and more maintenance-intensive due to their dual-motor structure, often have higher initial costs, offer limited all-electric range, and possess increased complexity.

  • Weight: Due to the additional electric motor and the battery, they are often heavier.
  • Maintenance: You need maintenance of both the electric and combustion engines, including the transmission.
  • Cost: Although they are more efficient than pure combustion vehicles, the initial cost of hybrids can be higher.

  • Driving behavior and needs: A potential driver should consider their daily driving behavior, distances traveled, and frequency of long-distance travel to choose the right model.
  • Financial considerations: It is important to consider the total cost including purchase, operation, maintenance, and possible government incentives.

The choice between electric and hybrid technology ultimately depends on the driver's individual needs, access to infrastructure and budget. It is important to consider all factors in order to make the best decision for the environment and one's lifestyle.
